AAEI Joins USMCA Coalition
March 4, 2019
AAEI has joined the USMCA Coalition, a group of more than 250 businesses and associations united in support of passage of the United-States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
The new agreement still contains many of the benefits of the original North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Improvements to the original include modernized customs rules, and ways to address eCommerce. The digital trade chapter in the USMCA is highly lauded.
AAEI stands for free trade. As the technical experts in trade compliance, AAEI members supports the modernization of NAFTA through the USMCA. The USMCA eliminates virtually all tariffs among the three North American trading partners, accounting for more than $3.5 billion in goods and services traded every day– $1.2 trillion annually.
“AAEI urges Congress to pass the USMCA as soon as possible,” says AAEI President and CEO Marianne Rowden. “Cross-border trade supports 11 million U.S. jobs.”
