Sec. Wilbur Ross Unable to Deliver Keynote at AAEI Annual Conference

July 10, 2019

U.S. Commerce Secretary Secretary Wilbur L. Ross, Jr. was called by President Trump to attend the G20 Summit in Japan in June, the same week the Commerce Secretary was scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the 98th Annual AAEI Conference and Expo in Washington, DC.

Secretary Ross is the principal voice of business in the Trump Administration, “ensuring that U.S. entrepreneurs and businesses have the tools they need to create jobs and economic opportunity,” as the White House website describes him.

Instead of Secretary Ross, attendees heard a keynote speech by Under Secretary Gilbert B. Kaplan of the Commerce Department.
