AAEI Industry Articles are designed to help trade professionals better understand emerging regulatory, legal, compliance, policy, technology, and operational issues affecting global trade.
What We’re Looking For
Articles should provide educational value and actionable insight for professionals involved in importing, exporting, trade compliance, customs, supply chain, logistics, or international trade policy.
Strong submissions may:
- Explain a new or evolving regulation, policy, or enforcement priority
- Examine emerging trends affecting importers and exporters
- Provide practical compliance guidance or best practices
- Explore operational or supply chain challenges
- Share lessons learned, case studies, or real-world applications
- Examine technology and innovation affecting global trade
- Offer informed analysis of issues facing the trade community
Articles should be written for a professional audience and should inform rather than sell. References to an author’s company, services, or technology may be appropriate when relevant to the subject matter, but submissions should not read as advertisements or sales materials.
Article Length & Format
Recommended length: Approximately 800–1,500 words.
Longer articles may be considered when the subject warrants additional depth or be divided into two topics.
Please submit articles as an editable Word document or similar format. Authors are encouraged to use clear headings, subheadings, and bullets to make longer articles easy to navigate.
Links to relevant regulations, government resources, research, or other supporting materials are encouraged where appropriate.

- LinkedIn profile, if applicable

Editorial Guidelines
Submissions should be original or clearly identified if they have previously appeared elsewhere.
Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of their submissions and appropriately attributing third-party information, research, data, and quotations.
AAEI reserves the right to edit submissions for clarity, length, style, formatting, and consistency with AAEI communications standards. When substantive changes are recommended, AAEI may return the edited article to the author for review prior to publication.
Submission does not guarantee publication. AAEI may decline content that does not align with the interests of its audience, is overly promotional, duplicates recently published content, or does not meet editorial standards.

Imports & Customs: Customs compliance, classification, valuation, origin, enforcement, trusted trader programs, forced labor, duty mitigation, and related issues.
Exports: Export controls, sanctions, licensing, emerging technologies, national security requirements, and export compliance.
Trade Policy: Tariffs, trade agreements, regulatory developments, government initiatives, and geopolitical developments affecting trade.
Technology & Data: Artificial intelligence, automation, data governance, supply chain visibility, and emerging trade technologies.
Trade Operations & Supply Chain: Logistics, sourcing, risk management, documentation, due diligence, and operational best practices.
Other timely topics relevant to the importer, exporter, and trade compliance communities are encouraged.

AAEI may also work with authors to identify opportunities to continue the conversation through webinars, virtual events, conference programming, or other AAEI initiatives.
