Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Chris Magnus has confirmed he will be the keynote speaker at AAEI’s 101st Annual Conference & Expo in Fort Lauderdale on June 14, 2022.

It will be Commissioner Magnus’s first public speech to the trade community since he was sworn in last December.

As of last year, Commissioner Magnus served as police chief for the City of Tucson, Arizona, where he implemented programs to improve police interactions with Tucson’s large immigrant community, and other innovations to assist people with substance abuse disorders and mental illnesses.

Commissioner Magnus started his public safety career in 1979 in Lansing, Michigan as a police dispatcher. His career path took him through Fargo, North Dakota and Richmond, California.

At CBP, Commissioner Magnus oversees more than 60,000 employees with core missions that include trade enforcement and trade facilitation through ports of entry.

AAEI regularly updates the conference program agenda. Early Bird registration discounts end on April 15, 2022.

The theme for the 2022 conference is Charting the Trade Winds – Tempest to Transformation. The first program day will include sessions covered under “Tailwinds vs. Headwinds – Facilitation vs. Enforcement.” The second day of the program will cover topics under “Getting Shipshape – Accelerating Innovation.”
