August 21, 2024 – AAEI is recognizing members who young professionals working in international trade, High Risers, who are helping their member companies grow and succeed. This week, AAEI’s High Riser is Keiana Palmer of Jones Walker LLP.
Keiana has been working in international trade for more than a year. At Jones Walker, Keiana is an Associate in the firm’s Corporate Practice Group and a member of the firm’s Guyana task force. Her practice includes advising on international business transactions and on policy and regulatory compliance in foreign jurisdictions. Her work includes antidumping (AD), countervailing duty (CVD), circumvention cases under EAPA, export/import controls and transactions, international sale of goods and services, customs classification and compliance, trade capacity building programs, and international economic development.
Keiana’s mentors include Marc Hebert and Alex Breckinridge, both of whom are partner at the firm, and Joanna Simmons, senior legal counsel within the Government of Guyana. Marc Hebert has been instrumental in getting AAEI involved with Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and his work on Customs Modernization.
Keiana says her aspirations involve facilitating smoother cross-border transactions and advocating for fair trade practices. Long term, she hopes to provide strategic legal guidance and innovative solutions, leverage her expertise to help businesses navigate complex trade regulations and foster international growth, and enhance the global competitiveness of local enterprises.
