AAEI members are saddened by news of Paul Vandevert’s passing last week at the age of 64. Paul was a longtime member of AAEI until his retirement from Ford Motor Company. He served as co-chair of AAEI’s Nominating Committee and was an active member of several substantive AAEI committees, including the Customs Committee. Paul helped lead AAEI’s governance with his stewardship of AAEI’s professional development and was a consistent attendee of AAEI’s annual conferences.
After his retirement from Ford, Paul opened his own trade law practice, Vandevert Trade Law PLC, based in Dearborn, Michigan. He represented clients on import and export compliance and helped them with strategic planning. He also wrote blog posts in recent years on international trade and trade analysis.
Paul’s avocation was theater. He served the Players Guild of Dearborn as President, Lights and Sound Governor, Finance Committee Chair and he served on the Guild’s Building Committee.
Paul died on Tuesday March 14, 2023, suffering a heart attack while working at home.
A memorial gathering will take place on Friday, March 24, 2:00-8:00 p.m. CDT at the Dearborn location of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 27, 2032 at 11:00 a.m. CDT at Christ Episcopal Church in Dearborn.
