This week’s member spotlight is on Laura Rabinowitz of Greenberg Traurig LLP.

As chair of AAEI’s Textiles, Apparel and Footwear Committee, Laura has been instrumental in the Association’s pursuit of the latest information on Forced Labor enforcement. Laura’s work in 2021 strengthened the Association’s relationship with U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP’s) Apparel, Footwear and Textiles Center of Excellence and Expertise. Although AAEI’s Forced Labor Talking Points were developed by another committee, Laura’s efforts with the Textiles Committee surfaced several enforcement factors at CBP that aided AAEI members in understanding the agency’s investigative timeline, including multiple layers of prerequisite recommendations before a decision on Withhold Release Orders (WROs) is made.

At Greenberg Traurig, Laura counsels domestic and multinational businesses on complex supply chain issues and other complicated challenges associated with trade, advising on mitigation of duty exposure and compliance. She helps clients on mitigating tariffs on Chinese-made products and steel and aluminum and helps clients navigate the maze of regulations, customs, and other government agency scrutiny.
