AAEI is spotlighting members who are helping lead the Association on key issues, initiatives and projects. This week, AAEI is featuring David Hamill of ArentFox Schiff LLP.

Dave is co-char of AAEI’s Customs Policy and Procedures Committee. Along with fellow committee co-chairs Kathy Neal and Colleen Clarke, Dave leads AAEI’s work on two of the Association’s top trade issues of 2022, Customs Modernization and Forced Labor Compliance. Dave provides insights on managing Section 301 tariffs that affect imported goods from China and the government’s tariff exclusion process.

The Customs Committee also is helping AAEI members understand the impact of  U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP’s) new Customs Broker Modernization Regulations 19 CFR 111, which become effective on December 19, 2022. At ArentFox Schiff LLP, Dave is a partner. His practice focuses on advising clients on international trade regulatory, including import and customs compliance, duty preference programs, in particular, the United States Mexico Canada Free Trade Agreement or USMCA. Dave also provides legal and strategic advice regarding the implications of US economic sanctions and export controls.
