September 11, 2024 – AAEI recognizes members who lead the Association on key issues, initiatives, and projects. This week, AAEI spotlights Matt Varner of Aritzia.
Matt is a member of AAEI’s Board of Governors, and currently serves as the new Board lead for the AAEI Membership Services Committee. The role includes wearing the title, Vice Chair of Membership. It’s a tailor-made fit for Matt. With more than 20 years of experience in international trade, Matt is well known and has fostered hundreds of professional connections and relationships.
Matt’s goal for AAEI is to expand the membership roll by reaching out to former AAEI members to discuss the Association’s growth and options for returning members. He is also leading AAEI’s 2024 campaign to recruit new members. When Matt says, “AAEI is uniquely positioned to address tariff and non-tariff barriers across all industries,” he means AAEI is the place to be for global trade compliance executives and professionals.
Matt is a license customs broker himself, and he provides guidance on corporate compliance. He has worked at Nike, TOMS, Advanced Sterilization products (ASP) and is currently serving as the VP of Trade and Customs at Aritzia, an upscale apparel retail chain based in Vancouver, Canada. At Aritzia, Matt also works on supply chain strategies and E-commerce challenges.
