AAEI recognizes members who lead the Association on key issues, initiatives, and projects. This week, we spotlight Steven Baker of the Law Offices of Steven W. Baker, who is in his 50th consecutive year as an AAEI member.
Steve joined AAEI in 1974, right after law school, when he started out working as an associate for The Law Office of George R. Tuttle. Steve kept up with international trade news by reading AAEI’s International Trade ALERT. Steve became a partner of Bellsey and Baker in 1978. He became the Principal of Steven W. Baker and Associates in 1996.
Steve says he enjoys being able to help companies deal with customs and trade issues, even though it can be frustrating work. He says he has seen the same issues, such as classification, valuation and marking, repeating come up over his 50 years of AAEI membership. Steve remains an active member of AAEI’s Customs Committee and Transpacific Committee.
Steve regularly speaks to and writes materials for customs broker and import industry associations, including AAEI, and has published a long running series of articles on Customs compliance issues.
AAEI honors Steve as the Member of the Week for his unwavering loyalty and decades of leadership.
