AAEI is recognizing members— Trade Champions— whose careers in international trade have had significant impact on the development of trade policy and practice. Today, AAEI honors Domenic Veneziano of Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A.

Domenic served as director of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) Division of Import Operations for more than ten years and is an authority on the importation of all FDA-regulated commodities and the resolution of problems that may occur.

During his tenure at FDA, Domenic was responsible for oversight of FDA’s import operations program and provided leadership, guidance, and direction to approximately 1,000 field investigators in more than 320 U.S. ports of entry. He also served as co-lead in the development of the FSMA import regulations and was senior advisor on the implementation of FSMA and the FDA Safety and Innovation Act. He represented FDA on the Automated Commercial Environment/International Trade Data System board of directors and the Border Interagency Executive Council and was responsible for ensuring that all FDA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection systems such as PREDICT and ACE met all operational needs.

Dominic continues to support the work of the U.S. trade community. With gratitude, AAEI is pleased to confer another career achievement to Domenic as an AAEI Trade Champion.
