AAEI is recognizing AAEI members— Trade Champions— whose careers in international trade have had significant impact on the development of trade policy and practice. This month, AAEI honors Michael Cerny of Charter brokerage.
Michael is widely considered one of the country’s foremost experts on Drawback. He is co-chair of AAEI’s Drawback Committee and a former member of AAEI’s Board of Governors.
Michael has more than 30 years of experience in customs and international trade matters, with extensive experience in duty drawback law and practice. currently on the Executive Committee of the CBP Trade Support Network, or TSN, Chair of the TSN Drawback Committee and leads the TSN Drawback Working Group.
At Charter Brokerage, a leading provider of duty drawback, Michael is Chief Legal Officer. He oversees many aspects of the company’s work to establish and manage a sophisticated duty-drawback program for its clients.
Michael is a regular speaker at AAEI’s annual conferences, where Drawback is a perennial panel topic. He also is a steward of the Association’s growth and advocacy success. With gratitude, AAEI is pleased to confer another career achievement to Michael as an AAEI Trade Champion.
