AAEI Comments on Proposed Connected Vehicle Rule
October 29, 2024 – The American Association of Exporters and Importers (AAEI) submitted comments in response to the Bureau of Industry and Security’s (BIS) notice of proposed rulemaking regarding connected vehicles.
The proposed regulations aim to address potential national security concerns associated with information and communication technology services (ICTS) used in connected vehicles, particularly from suppliers linked to foreign adversaries. AAEI’s comments are centered on achieving a delicate balance, ensuring that these rules help protect national security while being practical and achievable for businesses navigating complex global supply chains.
AAEI encourages BIS to implement advanced technology solutions to handle the reporting and compliance processes, making it easier for companies to meet the new requirements. These suggestions aim to support BIS’ goals by fostering collaboration between industry and government while enabling importers and exporters to maintain efficient and resilient supply chains.
